The Boy Who Lived and the God Who Fell

During the Battle of Hogwarts, a wounded Loki crashes through a rift into a ruined corridor and crosses wands—and blades—with Harry Potter. Their duel becomes a brutal test of illusions, loyalty, and the cost of war.

The corridor smelled of dust and blood. Hogwarts was breaking around Harry Potter, stone by stone. He stood alone beneath a shattered window, wand arm trembling, breath shallow. Somewhere below, giants roared. Somewhere above, Voldemort’s voice cut through the dark like a blade.

Then the air split.

A seam of green light opened at the end of the corridor, and something fell through it. Not a Death Eater. A man in black and green leather, pale as bone, dark hair wild. He landed hard, rolled, and came up with two daggers. His left arm hung wrong. Blood painted his mouth.

Harry raised his wand. “Don’t move.”

The stranger laughed, low and ruined. “A child with a stick. How quaint.”

“I said don’t move.”

“And I heard you.” The man’s eyes flicked over Harry—scar, glasses, torn Gryffindor scarf. “Ah. The boy who lived. I have heard stories. They bore me.”

Harry’s curse was silent, fast. Stupefy. The man blurred. Not dodged—split. Three copies of him fanned out, each smiling with different cruelty. Harry spun, fired at the nearest. It dissolved like smoke. A dagger whistled past his ear and buried itself in the wall.

“Illusions,” Harry breathed.

“Magic,” Loki corrected, appearing behind him. “Real enough to kill.”

Harry dropped, rolled, and shouted, “Protego!” The shield caught a second blade. Sparks rained. Loki pressed forward, faster than any wizard Harry had fought. Not with spells. With hands, weight, angles. A god of close quarters.

“You fight like a soldier,” Loki said, driving an elbow toward Harry’s throat. Harry blocked with his forearm, pain flaring. “But you are still a boy playing in a war.”

“You don’t know anything about this war.”

“I know wars.” Loki’s knee slammed into Harry’s ribs. Harry gagged, stumbled. “I know they eat the young first.”

Harry spat blood. “Then why are you here?”

For a heartbeat, Loki’s grin faltered. The corridor echoed with distant screams. His illusions flickered, and Harry saw the truth beneath: exhaustion, a wound in his side that leaked something darker than blood, and a collar of runes burned into his throat.

Harry fired again. “Expelliarmus!”

Loki caught the spell on his palm. The red light hissed against his skin, then vanished. His eyes widened. “That spell. It is not meant to harm.”

“No,” Harry said. “It’s meant to disarm.”

He lunged, not with magic but with his shoulder, ramming Loki into the broken wall. Stone crumbled. Loki snarled and drove a dagger up. Harry caught his wrist. They stood chest to chest, trembling, each holding the other’s death.

“You could kill me,” Loki whispered. “Why don’t you?”

“Because you’re not one of them.”

“I am not one of anyone.”

“Then leave.”

Loki’s laugh was bitter. “I cannot. Something dragged me here. A veil. A door. Your world is a cage, and I am the rat.”

Harry’s grip tightened. “There’s a battle. People are dying. If you’re not with Voldemort, then help or get out of my way.”

“Help?” Loki’s free hand rose. Green light coiled around his fingers. “I only help myself.”

The corridor shook. A chunk of ceiling crashed between them, forcing them apart. Dust swallowed the air. When it cleared, Loki stood at the far end, daggers lowered.

“You have fire, Potter,” he said. “Misplaced, but bright.”

“And you talk too much.”

Loki smiled—not mockery now, but something tired. “Perhaps. But I have seen enough of your war. It smells like every other. I will find my own door.”

“If you hurt anyone—”

“You will do what? Disarm me again?” Loki stepped backward into the green seam. “Keep your noble heart, boy. It will get you killed. But not tonight.”

The portal snapped shut. Harry stood alone, ribs aching, wand still raised. Below, the battle raged on. He wiped blood from his mouth and ran toward the noise.

He had a war to finish.
