The Seattle skyline glittered through Addison’s floor-to-ceiling windows, a million tiny stars against the deepening indigo. Inside, the air was thick—unspoken tension, a storm brewing beneath expensive art and minimalist decor.

Meredith hunched on the leather couch in faded blue scrubs, arms crossed, jaw set. She wasn’t looking at Addison, who stood by the kitchen island with a glass of wine untouched in her hand.

“Do you have anything to say for yourself, Meredith?” Addison’s voice was calm, measured—the kind that comes before a hurricane.

“Not really.” Flat. “You made your point in the OR. In front of everyone. That was enough.”

“I made my point because you undermined me during a complex fetal surgery. You questioned my technique in front of the whole team. That’s not acceptable.”

Meredith finally lifted her eyes, a flash of fire. “Maybe if you weren’t so set in your ways, you’d listen to new ideas. I saw that vessel loop—”

“Enough.” Addison set the wine glass down with a soft clink. “We have rules for a reason. You agreed to them. I didn’t force you into this, Meredith.”

The words hung there, heavy and final. Meredith’s resolve wavered. She remembered that conversation weeks ago, sitting in this very room. Addison explaining the dynamic she wanted to explore. Control isn’t about punishment. It’s about safety. It’s about knowing someone will catch you when you fall. But it requires trust. Obedience.

Meredith had nodded, eager, desperate for something solid in her chaotic life. She’d wanted to give control to someone she trusted. And she did trust Addison—more than she’d ever trusted anyone.

“Look at me.” Firm, but not harsh.

Meredith obeyed, meeting her gaze.

“I’m going to give you a choice. You can accept the consequences of your behavior and let me guide you through it. Or you can walk away. Right now. No hard feelings. But this dynamic—it only works if you’re all in.”

Fear flickered in Meredith’s chest. Losing this—losing Addison’s careful, steady presence—was terrifying. She swallowed, throat dry.

“I’m in,” she whispered.

“Then you know what happens next.”

Meredith’s stomach dropped. She nodded slowly, her bravado crumbling. She’d been spanked before—as a child, by her mother. But this was different. This was chosen. This was Addison.

Addison crossed the room, heels clicking softly on the hardwood. She gestured to the arm of the couch. “Bend over, sweetheart.”

Meredith hesitated, heart pounding. She stood, legs shaky, and walked to the couch. Slowly, she bent over the arm, gripping the leather cushion. The position was vulnerable, exposing. Heat rushed to her cheeks.

Addison moved behind her, one hand resting on Meredith’s lower back. “You’re going to count each one. If you lose count, we start over. Understand?”

“Yes.” Barely audible.

“I said, do you understand?”

“Yes, Dr. Montgomery.” The formal address made it more real.

“Good girl.” Addison’s hand slid down to the curve of Meredith’s bottom through the thin scrubs. “This is because you were insubordinate and disrespectful. You know better.”

The first spank landed with a sharp crack. Meredith gasped, body jerking.

“One,” she choked out.

Another slap, harder. “Two.”

They continued, each one building on the last. Addison’s hand was precise, unrelenting. By twenty, Meredith was gritting her teeth, tears welling. By thirty, she was sobbing, legs trembling.

“Thirty-five,” she cried out, voice breaking.

“Almost there, sweetheart. You’re doing so well.”

At forty, Meredith collapsed, body sagging against the couch. Her bottom throbbed, a deep, burning ache. She couldn’t stop the tears—great heaving sobs that shook her.

Addison was there in an instant, kneeling beside her, rubbing her back in slow, soothing circles. “Shh, I’ve got you. You’re okay. You did so well, my brave girl.”

Meredith turned, burying her face in Addison’s shoulder, clinging. The tears wouldn’t stop, but they were good tears—cleansing. Addison held her, rocking gently, murmuring reassurances.

“Come on, let’s get you to bed. Ice and cuddles.” Addison helped her stand, guiding her toward the bedroom.

Meredith followed, pliant and childlike, her brattiness completely dissolved. She let Addison lead her to the bed, help her out of her scrubs, and slide an ice pack wrapped in a soft towel under her hips. Addison climbed in beside her, pulling her close.

Meredith curled into her, head on Addison’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. Addison stroked her hair, her other hand rubbing slow circles on her back.

“I’m sorry,” Meredith whispered, voice raw.

“I know you are. And I forgive you. But we still have something else to take care of.”

Meredith stiffened, a fresh wave of anxiety washing over her. The vitamin injections. She’d been avoiding them for weeks, making excuses. She hated needles. Her blood tests had shown deficiencies, and Addison had insisted.

“No,” Meredith whimpered, shaking her head. “Please, not tonight.”

Addison’s arms tightened. “Yes, tonight. You need them. You’ve been pale, tired, your body is struggling. I hate seeing you hurt, but I love you too much to let you neglect your health.”

Meredith’s voice turned pleading, small. “I’ll take them tomorrow. I promise.”

“Sweetheart, you said that last week. And the week before.” Addison’s voice was gentle but unwavering. “We’re doing it now, while you’re already calm and safe. I’ll make it as quick as possible.”

Tears pricked at Meredith’s eyes again. She felt like a child—vulnerable and scared. She buried her face in Addison’s neck, breathing in her familiar scent—perfume, antiseptic, warmth.

Addison extricated herself gently and went to the bathroom, returning with a small cooler. She set out two syringes, alcohol wipes, cotton balls, bandages. She explained each step as she prepared the first shot, voice low and soothing.

“This is B12. It helps with your energy levels. I’m going to inject it into your outer thigh. It might sting a little, but it’ll be over in seconds.”

Meredith lay on her stomach, face buried in the pillow. She felt Addison swab her skin with a cold alcohol wipe.

“Take a deep breath for me, love.”

Meredith sucked in a shaky breath. The needle slid in with a sharp pinch, then a burning, spreading ache. She cried out, clenching her fists.

“There, it’s done. You’re doing amazing.” Addison applied pressure with a cotton ball, then pressed a kiss to the spot. “One more. The iron. This one might burn a little more, but I’ll be fast.”

Meredith whimpered, tears leaking onto the pillow. “I can’t.”

“Yes, you can. You’re the strongest person I know. You survived drowning, a shooting, your mother’s abuse. You can survive two tiny needles.”

Meredith laughed weakly through her tears. “That’s not fair.”

“I know. But it’s true.” Addison prepped the second syringe. “Ready?”

“Just do it.”

The second shot was worse. The iron burned as it went in—a deep, spreading fire that made Meredith gasp and then scream, a raw, animal sound. Her body tensed, toes curling.

“Shh, shh, it’s over, it’s done. You’re so brave, my love. You did so well.” Addison pressed another cotton ball, another kiss. “All done.”

Meredith collapsed, sobbing openly, whole body shaking. Addison gathered her in her arms, holding tight, rocking her. She whispered praise after praise, her voice a lifeline in the storm.

“I’ve got you. I’ve got you, my princess. You never have to face anything alone again.”

Meredith clutched at Addison’s shirt, fingers digging into the fabric. She couldn’t speak, could only hold on. Addison stroked her hair, her back, her arms—grounding her with every touch.

Minutes passed. The sobs quieted to hiccups, then to shaky breaths. Meredith’s grip loosened, but she didn’t let go.

“Better?” Addison asked softly.

Meredith nodded against her chest.

“Let me get some lotion for your bottom. It’s going to be sore tomorrow.”

Addison shifted to retrieve a bottle of aloe vera lotion from the bedside table. She helped Meredith roll onto her stomach, then carefully applied the cool gel to her reddened skin, touch feather-light. Meredith sighed, the pain easing slightly.

Then Addison turned her attention to the injection sites, dabbing them with more lotion and kissing each one again. Meredith watched her through half-lidded eyes, a feeling of profound safety washing over her.

“Stay with me tonight?” Meredith whispered, voice small.

“Always, sweetheart. Always.”

Addison set the lotion aside, turned off the lamp, and pulled the comforter over both of them. Meredith curled into her side, head on Addison’s chest, her body a question mark of trust. Addison wrapped an arm around her, finding Meredith’s hand and lacing their fingers together.

The city lights painted soft shadows on the ceiling. The only sounds were their breathing and the distant hum of traffic. Meredith’s eyes grew heavy, the exhaustion of the day pulling her under.

“Thank you,” she murmured, lips brushing Addison’s collarbone.

“Thank you for trusting me.” Addison kissed the top of her head. “Sleep now, princess. I’ll be right here.”

Meredith’s breathing evened out, her body relaxing completely. Addison held her, feeling the weight of her, the warmth of her. It was a powerful thing—to be trusted with someone’s vulnerability. To be the person they turned to when they fell apart.

Addison pressed another kiss to Meredith’s hair and closed her eyes, a deep sense of fulfillment settling in her bones. She’d guided her through fear, through pain, through surrender. And in return, she’d received the most precious gift: Meredith’s unguarded heart.

They lay tangled together, peaceful, safe. Two broken souls finding wholeness in each other’s arms. And for now, that was enough.
