On the day of his trial, Ryo walked confidently into the Aqua Deer base—a sprawling manor filled with chaotic art and floating paint splatters. He tapped his wooden cane lightly, sensing the energy of the room. “Ah, a new recruit?” a cheerful voice called out. It was Rill, his vibrant robes swishing as he bounded over. “You must be Ryo! He offered to rearrange the library, which was in a chaotic state after Rill’s latest artistic frenzy. “I’ll organize the books by gravitational resonance,” Ryo said, and with a wave of his hand, he increased the gravity on the bookshelves to flatten them, then gently lifted each book to its proper place. But he miscalculated the weight of a large, ancient tome. It slammed into the floor with a deafening thud, cracking the stone. Everyone turned. “Oops,” Ryo said. “I think I need to calibrate my senses. Sorry.”

Rill just laughed. “No worries! That book was boring anyway! Now it’s a modern art piece!” He quickly painted a fiery dragon around the crack, turning it into a masterpiece. Ryo chuckled. The Aqua Deer’s lightheartedness was exactly what he needed.

His blindness occasionally led to humorous mishaps. Once, he mistook a fellow squad member’s mana for a door and walked straight into a wall. Another time, he tried to levitate a cup of tea but instead pulled the entire table toward him, spilling hot tea everywhere. But the Aqua Deer never complained. They adapted. They even made him a special staff with bells to help him navigate, and Flora enchanted his cane to project a faint aura of flowers wherever he walked.

Ryo’s proudest moment came during a minor mission: a rogue mage was terrorizing a village with Earth Magic, causing boulders to rain from the sky. The squad arrived to find the villagers cowering. Rill started painting a giant shield, but Ryo stepped forward. “Allow me.” He raised his hand, and the falling boulders stopped mid-air. With a gentle push, he reversed their gravity and sent them hurtling back toward the rogue mage, who was knocked out. The villagers cheered. “A blind noble with gravity powers? That’s incredible!” a child shouted. Ryo blushed.

Back at the base, Rill organized a celebration. There was painting, singing, and a massive feast. “To our newest member! The Gravity Wizard!” Rill toasted. Everyone raised their glasses. Ryo, unable to see, raised his glass to where he thought Rill was, but missed by a foot. The squad stifled laughter. “I’ll drink to that,” Ryo said, taking a sip. He felt a hand on his shoulder—Rill’s. “Don’t worry about being blind, Ryo. You see the world in a way none of us can. And that’s beautiful.”
