You’ve been watching Vinny’s stream for hours, the familiar glow of your monitor painting the room in soft blues and purples. His voice, warm and slightly raspy from laughing at his own jokes, fills your small apartment. Tonight is a chill stream—just some retro game he’s been meaning to play. He’s in his element, cracking jokes, going on tangents about obscure Vinesauce lore, and occasionally breaking into song. You smile, your heart swelling with a fondness you’ve tried to keep at bay.

When the stream ends, you close the tab as always, but tonight feels different. You’ve been a fan for years, but lately, the way your pulse quickens when he laughs has become impossible to ignore. You sigh, leaning back in your chair. Get a grip, you tell yourself. He’s a streamer. You’re just a viewer.

Your phone buzzes, pulling you from your thoughts. A Discord notification. You glance at the screen and freeze. It’s a friend request from Vinesauce—the real one. Your heart hammers. You accept, fingers trembling, and a message pops up almost immediately.

You stare at the words, disbelief washing over you. You reply with a shaky breath, keeping it cool.

Your throat goes dry. You type a quick “Sure” and send your Discord voice channel link. A few seconds later, you hear a soft chime as he joins. His voice, now unfiltered by stream compression, is even more soothing.

“Hey,” he says, a smile evident in his tone.

“Hey,” you echo, your voice barely above a whisper.

What follows is an hour of effortless conversation. He talks about his day, the chaos of streaming, his love for weird games. You share your own stories, your own passions. He laughs at your jokes, and you feel a warmth spread through your chest. At some point, the conversation turns personal. He admits he often feels lonely despite the thousands of viewers. “I’m glad I could help,” he says softly. “You’re special, you know. I don’t usually do this.”

Your heart races. “Do what?”
