Hearts on the Field
During a team-building exercise, Blue Lock players confess secret crushes, leading to unexpected romantic developments among Isagi, Nagi, Rin, Shido, Sae, and Aoi, all in a lighthearted and chaotic atmosphere.
It was another sweltering day at the Blue Lock facility. The players had just finished an intense practice match, and the coach announced a new team-building exercise: each player had to confess a secret crush to a partner, and then the partner had to keep it a secret. The room erupted in groans and laughter.
Isagi Yoichi sat next to Bachira, who was grinning like a maniac. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!" Bachira whispered. Isagi blushed, thinking of a certain quiet striker with blue eyes. He shook his head. "No way, Bachira."
Across the room, Nagi Seishiro was sprawled on the floor, not participating. "Too troublesome," he mumbled. Shido Rensuke was arguing with Itoshi Rin about who should be paired with whom. "I'm not telling you anything, you idiot," Rin snapped.
Sae Itoshi, the prodigy, leaned against the wall, watching the chaos with a smirk. He caught the eye of a shy forward named Aoi, who immediately looked down, fidgeting. Aoi had harbored a crush on Sae since forever, but never dared to speak.
The coach blew the whistle. "Pairs! You have five minutes!"
Isagi nervously approached Nagi. "Hey, Nagi, want to be partners?" Nagi yawned. "If you do all my work." Isagi sighed but agreed.
Bachira cornered Rin. "Come on, Rin-chan! Let's share secrets!" Rin glared. "No." But Bachira persisted, and eventually Rin relented with a huff.
Shido was left with Sae. "Fine. But don't expect anything sappy." Sae shrugged. "Same."
Aoi stood alone, until the coach paired him with the last person: Itoshi Sae. Aoi's heart raced.
The pairs dispersed to corners. Aoi stammered, "S-Sae-san, I..." Sae raised an eyebrow. "Spit it out."
With a deep breath, Aoi confessed, "I like you. A lot." Sae's expression didn't change. "Is that all?" Aoi nodded, trembling. Sae leaned in. "I know. You're not subtle." Then he smirked. "But I don't mind." Aoi's eyes widened.
Nearby, Isagi was trying to guess Nagi's crush. "Is it Reo?" Nagi yawned. "Not telling." Isagi pouted. "But you promised!" Nagi sat up. "Fine. It's you." Isagi froze, his face turning crimson. Nagi looked away. "Too troublesome to explain."
Bachira was bouncing. "Rin-chan, tell me!" Rin muttered under his breath. "It's... that idiot Shido." Bachira gasped. "You like Shido?!" Rin grabbed him. "Keep your voice down!" But Shido had heard. He stomped over. "What did you say, Rin?" Rin turned red. "Nothing!" Shido smirked. "Don't lie. I heard you." He grabbed Rin's chin. "If you like me, just say so." Rin punched him. "In your dreams!"
Sae watched the chaos. Aoi tugged his sleeve. "So, what's your secret?" Sae looked down. "I'm not good at this." He paused. "But I've been watching you. Your passes are sharp." Aoi beamed.
The coach blew the whistle again. "Time's up!" The players dispersed, but new sparks had ignited. Isagi couldn't look at Nagi without blushing. Bachira teased Rin mercilessly. And Aoi walked away holding hands with Sae.
Later, in the dining hall, everyone sat together. Shido was arguing with Rin, but there was a hint of a smile on Rin's face. Nagi was feeding Isagi a piece of apple, and Isagi was too flustered to refuse. Bachira was taking photos. Sae sat next to Aoi, their shoulders touching.
Even in the competitive world of Blue Lock, sometimes the best plays were made off the field.
