The Dreamscape's Grip
After a villain's quirk traps Izuku and Shoto in a shared dreamscape, they face their deepest insecurities as physical monsters. By combining One For All and Half-Cold Half-Hot in a fusion attack, they destroy the nightmares and escape. The experience strengthens their bond and leaves them holding hands, hinting at deeper feelings.
The world dissolved into a vortex of colors before solidifying into a twisted replica of the U.A. campus. Izuku Midoriya stumbled, catching himself against a familiar wall that seemed to breathe with a life of its own. Beside him, Shoto Todoroki stood rigid, frost creeping across his right side as he surveyed the shifting shadows.
"This is the villain's quirk?" Shoto's voice was steady, but Izuku could see the tension in his jaw.
"I think so," Izuku replied, clutching his arms. "We're in a shared dreamscape—our deepest insecurities made real."
As if summoned, the ground split, and a hulking figure rose—a monstrous version of All Might, but with hollow eyes and a mocking grin. "You'll never be worthy, Deku." The voice boomed, and Izuku felt his heart seize.
Simultaneously, a wall of fire and ice erupted behind them, shaping into a gigantic, sneering visage. "Pathetic boy, can't even control your own power." Shoto's father's scorn resonated from the elemental form.
"They're feeding on our fears," Shoto muttered, clenching his fists. "We have to fight back."
Instinctively, Izuku activated One For All, green lightning crackling. Shoto unleashed a torrent of ice, but the constructs barely faltered. The All Might specter punched the ground, sending shockwaves that knocked them off balance. The fire-ice titan blasted a wave of scorching wind.
"Our quirks aren't enough separately!" Izuku shouted over the chaos. "We need to combine them."
Shoto's mismatched eyes met his. "Combine? How?"
"I don't know! But I trust you."
Something flickered in Shoto's gaze—then he stepped closer, his left side warming, right side cooling. "On my count. Use Full Cowling at maximum."
Izuku nodded, green lightning intensifying. Shoto raised his right hand, ice forming, and his left, fire swirling. "Now!"
As Izuku surged forward, Shoto unleashed a spiral of ice and fire that wrapped around them. Izuku channeled his power into the vortex, and it responded—the elements fused into a shimmering shield, deflecting the spectral attacks.
"It's working!" Izuku yelled.

But the insecurities redoubled. The All Might clone laughed, "You'll only hurt him!" The flame-ice monster roared, "You're both broken!"
Izuku's resolve wavered. He saw Shoto's own doubt reflected. Then Shoto's hand found his, fingers intertwining. "Don't listen. I've never cared about anyone's expectations but my own—and yours." His voice was soft, yet firm. "Together, we're more than our fears."
Heat and cold surged through their joined hands, merging into something new—a dazzling light that pushed back the dark. Izuku felt Shoto's warmth, his cold, his trust. He poured his own hope into the fusion.
"One For All: Full Cowling—Harmony!"
A blast of blue-white energy erupted, obliterating the nightmare constructs. The dreamscape shattered like glass, and they woke in the real world, still holding hands, lying side by side.
Shoto turned his head, a faint blush on his otherwise stoic face. "We make a good team."
Izuku smiled, his heart pounding for more than just the battle. "The best."
