Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data FanFicGen collects, how it is used and stored, how your prompts are processed by third-party AI providers, and the choices and rights you have regarding your information.
Last updated: April 12, 2026
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect the information needed to operate the Service, including your name, email address, authentication credentials, and subscription plan status. If you sign in through Google, we receive your basic profile information (name, email, and profile image) as provided by Google's OAuth service.
When you use the story generator, we collect and store the prompts, parameters (such as fandom, characters, genre, tone, length, and content rating), and generated story content necessary to create, save, and display your stories. We also retain limited technical data, including your IP address, session information, request metadata, and rate-limit counters.
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer identifier to manage your subscription, but we do not store full payment card details on FanFicGen servers.
How we use information
We use your information to: (a) provide and operate the Service, including authenticating your account, generating stories, saving story history, and displaying content; (b) enforce usage limits and manage subscription plans; (c) process billing and subscription changes through Stripe; (d) maintain the security, reliability, and integrity of the Service.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified operational data to diagnose technical issues, monitor system performance, analyze usage patterns, and improve the quality of the Service. Such data will not be used to personally identify you.
Third-party AI processing
To generate stories, your prompts and input parameters are transmitted to third-party AI model providers for processing. Depending on our system configuration, these providers may include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, or OpenRouter. Prompts are sent solely for the purpose of generating the requested story content.
These third-party AI providers process your prompt data under their own privacy policies and terms of service. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of these providers. FanFicGen does not control how these providers retain, process, or use the data after it is transmitted for generation purposes.
We do not use your prompts or generated stories for advertising, user profiling unrelated to the Service, or sale to third parties.
Storage, sharing, and public content
FanFicGen stores core application data using Cloudflare services, including Cloudflare D1 (database), Cloudflare KV (rate-limiting data), and Cloudflare R2 (object storage for longer stories). Stories exceeding approximately 3,000 words may additionally be stored in object storage for efficient delivery.
Stories are public by default. Public stories can be viewed by anyone with the link and may appear on the FanFicGen explore page, in search engine results, or through any distribution channels used by the Service. Signed-in users can switch their own stories between public and private at any time. Stories generated by guest users (without an account) are public and cannot be made private.
If you sign in with Google or pay through Stripe, those providers process the data necessary to complete authentication or billing under their own terms and privacy policies. We share only the minimum information required for those specific purposes.
Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your account data in accordance with applicable law, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Stories and generation records are retained indefinitely unless you delete them, or they are removed due to a policy or legal violation. Rate-limiting data stored in Cloudflare KV is automatically purged after approximately 48 hours.
Payment and billing data is managed by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's own data retention policies. We retain your Stripe customer identifier for as long as needed to manage your subscription relationship.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area, or the minimum age required by applicable local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these age thresholds.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable minimum age, we will take prompt steps to delete such information. If you believe a child under the applicable age has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
International data transfers
FanFicGen operates on Cloudflare's global edge network. Your data may be transferred to, processed in, and stored in countries other than your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.
By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate data transfer mechanisms to ensure your data is afforded an adequate level of protection.
Your data rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to: (a) access and receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you; (b) request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data; (c) request deletion of your account and associated personal data; (d) request portability of your data in a structured, machine-readable format; (e) object to certain types of processing; (f) withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact section below. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable data protection law. Please note that deleting your account does not automatically remove publicly shared stories that may have already been cached, indexed, or accessed by third parties.
Cookies and similar technologies
FanFicGen uses session cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication and maintaining your login state. These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
Stripe may set additional cookies during the payment checkout process in accordance with Stripe's own cookie policy. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising cookies.
Legal basis for processing (EEA users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, our legal bases for processing your personal data include: (a) contract performance — processing necessary to provide the Service you requested, including account management, story generation, and subscription billing; (b) legitimate interests — processing necessary for our legitimate interests in maintaining security, preventing fraud, and improving the Service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights; (c) consent — where required by applicable law, such as for optional communications.
Your choices
You can choose whether your stories remain public or private (if you are signed in), and you can cancel a paid subscription at any time through Stripe.
If you need help with account, story, data access, or privacy-related requests, contact us and we will review the request in accordance with applicable law and operational requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or applicable law. We will notify users of material changes through the Service or via the email address associated with your account. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
